steekR DriveDrive is the client application for a file-sharing service. This service is not like any p2p service. It is not meant to be used to download files or documents. Rather, it is pretty useful for sharing files between colleagues or friends. The service can be used from the website, but this client makes everything easier. It installs itself as a Windows Explorer extension. So, when you open the application, you will see a regular Windows Explorer window. There, you will see the contents of your SteekR account. The account itself is free and gives you a gigabyte for you to use. You can upload big files, too. Uploading a file is as easy as dragging the file from your computer to a folder in your account. That will initiate a transfer. Once the file is uploaded, the same process has to be followed to download the file. The other person can download the file from the website or the client. There is a client for Mac OS X as well. And anyone with access to an Internet browser can use the service. |
